Site Changes

On 1 November 2010 the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was integrated into the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). An interim website for the OAIC is available at www.oaic.gov.au. This site (privacy.gov.au), which only contains information related to the OAIC's privacy function, will be maintained until a combined site is established.

As a Australian or ACT government employee, where can I get more information about my agency`s privacy obligations?

Almost all Australian and ACT government agencies have a designated Privacy Contact Officer (or PCO, who is your first point of contact on privacy-related matters). If you don't know who your agency's Privacy Contact Officer is, you can ring the Privacy Hotline on 1300 363 992, or email privacy@privacy.gov.au, and we will be able to tell you.

While your Privacy Contact Officer is your primary privacy resource, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner provides a range of additional information, including publications such as the Guidelines to the Information Privacy Principles, the Guidelines for Australian and ACT government World Wide Websites, Guidelines on Internet and Email usage and information sheets. These can all be downloaded from our website at www.privacy.gov.au.
