Site Changes
On 1 November 2010 the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was integrated into the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). An interim website for the OAIC is available at www.oaic.gov.au. This site (privacy.gov.au), which only contains information related to the OAIC's privacy function, will be maintained until a combined site is established.
Australian Privacy Awards
The Australian Privacy Awards were held in 2008 and again in 2009 and aimed to encourage, recognise and reward businesses, government agencies and not-for-profit organisations that engaged in good privacy practices. In addition the Australian Privacy Medal aimed to acknowledge an individual who had exhibited an outstanding level of achievement in advancing privacy in Australia.
